For Ashtanga practitioners sometimes the most difficult if not dreaded part of the practice is sitting still. Yet taking time to cultivate finishing postures, pranayama forms as well as meditation practice can enliven and bring a whole new depth to our daily asana practice.
Yoga practice can set us free. It may also lead us astray and bind us within habitual patterns of mind, movement and emotion that keep us stuck for years if not lifetimes. Embodying the flowing form of breath, thought and movement as internal processes of awakening allows us to tap into the reservoir of strength and balance that can free us from the shackles of mind and circumstances that keep us stuck.
